Despite the strong rumors pointing to the launch of a new iPhone next month, that is far from a set fact. Each time and Apple event draws near people start to believe a new iPhone will be launched. In the UK O2 has the iPhone exclusive. However, it has also snapped up the Pre exclusive, which is sure to have been expensive.

Why fight so hard for the Pre exclusive when you already have what many consider the best smartphone going in the iPhone? If rumors are to be believed, it's because the new iPhone won’t be an exclusive handset and will be offered anywhere.

I have been saying for a long time that for the iPhone to be truly huge it needs to be available everywhere. That is something that is bound to happen sooner or later. Broader availability means more money, which should mean more iPhone models. The Pre will be an exclusive and despite the fact that it hasn’t launched yet, it is considered one of the best iPhone alternatives already.
