AT&T's Randall Stephenson has warned consumers that the wireless network in the US is not ready for a deluge of 3G traffic. Many parts of the US are still underserved by the 3G service that so many Europeans enjoy.

Stephenson also says that he would like to start selling the 3G Palm Pre after Sprint's exclusive contract runs out. AT&T has to have its eye on the next big thing as the exclusive contract on the iPhone is nearing its end.

Exactly how long the exclusive contracts for the Pre will last is unknown. It would make sense for Palm to set the exclusive contract limits low; it needs to sell lots of Pre's and the only way to really do that is to have the handset on all networks.
