A new rumor has popped up that has Nintendo announcing a new Mario game at E3. The rumor stems from the news that the father of Mario and Zelda, Shigeru Miyamoto, will not be taking the stage at the show.

Miyamoto has been working on family friendly Wii titles, but the dream of a new Mario game is alive and well for hardcore Nintendo fans.

"In the last two years, Shigsy has used the press conference to announce Wii Fit (E3 2007) and Wii Music (E3 2008). Perhaps his absence from the stage this year means we'll be getting some of the announcements that we wanted last year, such as a follow up to Super Mario Galaxy."
