Samsung has officially announced specifications for its sweet Pixon 12 camera phone. The phone is hailed as the world's first 12MP camera phone for instant shooting of images and video. The phone sports a 3.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen that allows control of the cameras focus by touching where the user wants to focus.

The camera has a dedicated camera power key to give users fast access to the camera function and can snap images as fast as any point-and-shoot camera on the market. The phone can shoot one image every 2 seconds.

Samsung gives the Pixon 12 a 28mm wide-angle lens for perspective and the ability to capture more of a scene. The camera can also capture full motion video for uploading to YouTube or other sharing sites. Other features include HSPA 900/2100MHz and GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz service. Video is recorded at 720 x 480 resolutions and Wi-Fi connectivity is integrated. The phone will launch in Europe in June and other countries in August.
