Sky News HD will reportedly launch in the spring of 2010 after an update to the global production, studio, and facilities to handle the move to HD resolution. The HD feed will be broadcast along with the SD feed.

Work will be done on other Sky News facilities around the world to get ready for the upgrade along with training for employees to use the new hardware. "It's great news for our Sky+HD customers, giving them access to award-winning breaking news in HD for the very first time and further expanding the choice on offer."

Sky+HD added 243,000 new subscribers in Q1 2009 for 1.022 million subscribers. That is an increase of 465,000 subscribers over the same quarter of 2008.
