Palm Pre Comes To Verizon In January?

Oh, what a saga it's been! The duel between Sprint and Verizon over the Palm Pre has been equal parts fascinating and amusing. While Verizon has continually insisted that the Pre will be available on their network in short order (much to the detriment of Sprint's stock), Sprint has repeatedly stated that their exclusivity agreement isn't dying any time soon.

A rumor today from the Wall Street Journal claims that the Palm Pre will, in fact, be launching with Verizon in January 2010. All they'll say is that someone 'familiar with the situation' leaked the release information to them. The rumors have already created quite a stir on the Internet, and I'm expecting to see a statement from Sprint addressing this in the near future.

If they stay quiet, it could mean that the rumor is true and that Sprint has failed to get Palm to extend their exclusivity arrangement. That would be potentially crippling news for Sprint, but great news for Verizon and their customers. We'll keep you updated as we learn more.
