Android had a bit of a slow start, but now the open-source UI is starting to gain some real ground in the industry. LG just announced that they have three different Android-loaded mobile phones coming to stores near the end of this year. Also according to T3, the Samsung i7500 will be out for sale in the U.S some time in the next two weeks.

We don't have much information yet about what sort of mobiles we can expect from LG. It's been rumored that one of the new phones will be the KS360. If so, that's very unfortunate. The KS360 is an old budget LG phone with a sliding QWERTY keyboard and 2.0 megapixel camera.

Hopefully LG has something better to give us than just a repackaged old mobile. Other mobile manufacturers-like Samsung and HTC-are taking Android seriously. It's a great UI and it works beautifully on high-end phones like the i7500. The more manufacturers are willing to put Android to the test the better I think it will do. Just slapping Android onto an old mobile you had laying around in storage isn't the way to take advantage of one of the most intuitive mobile UIs out there.
