One day soon smartphones will become ubiquitous. The market will start to contract, and manufacturers will have to consolidate their assets. Less smartphones will be released by less manufacturers, and we'll see a huge amount of shrink in our choice of smartphones. When that happens we'll all long for weeks like this, where multiple new smartphones are launched every day.

Today LG announced the release of the Tritan, a brand new smartphone with a 3” touch-screen and a sliding QWERTY keyboard. It has a 3 megapixel camera/camcorder, 3G capability, and a 16GB microSD card slot.

The Tritan bears a lot of physical similarities to the G1 smartphone. Its keyboard looks a little cramped, but the UI looks relatively non-terrible. There's nothing special about this smartphone, but you can buy-one-get-one free in the Alltel store for $79.99. Sure, the Tritan is a little puny compared to other smartphone contenders, but you really can't beat that price for a budget smartphone.
