Amazon is close to launching the Kindle reader in the UK. Amazon has reportedly handed the manufacturing operations for the build of the Kindle to Qualcomm in the UK.

Amazon has reportedly been in talks with Vodafone and Orange, but those talks proved unsuccessful. The connectivity will come from Qualcomm as well.

The Kindle has been available in the US since 2007 and the device now has two versions available in America. No official confirmation of the launch has been offered from Amazon or Qualcomm.
