In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Neil Armstrong walking on the moon Google has added moon maps to Google Earth. The maps create an interactive 3D atlas of the moon that lets users explore the moon's surface.

The interactive maps allow users to follow the path of the lunar rover used by the astronauts on the moon. Google says it is giving access to an interactive presentation on the Apollo missions.

The maps also feature guided tours from astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Jack Schmitt with first-hand accounts of the missions. The new moon maps are the most recent development from the Space Act agreement between Google and NASA.
