The much anticipated HTC Hero Android-powered smartphone hits the Orange network in the UK today. This is the premiere handset running Android from HTC. The device will be available online and in stores for as low as £34.25 monthly.

The handset has a slick profile with an angled microphone end, a 5MP camera, and a 3.2-inch touchscreen. The screen has a resolution of 480 x 320 and uses the HTC Sense UI.

The device will be offered for free with a 2-year contract with either 1,200 minutes and unlimited texts or 500 texts and unlimited calls. The handset should be very popular on the Orange network.
