Spotify is trying to build consumer demand for a streaming app for the iPhone in hopes of getting Apple to approve its app. The catch is that Spotify would be a direct competitor to Apple's iTunes.

The odds of Apple approving the app are questionable I think. Then again, there are apps from Pandora and satellite providers so who knows. Spotify is offering up a demo of its app for users to check out.

The app would be offered for free, but would only work for users with a premium membership. Spotify expects the app to be in the app store shortly. The company is also working on an Android version of the app.
