Despite a newspaper report yesterday, China still has no Apple iPhone deal.
Yesterday the Shanghai Securities News reported that China Unicom landed a 3 year exclusive deal for the iPhone in China. Today Reuters carries a report with a statement from China Unicom saying that: "Discussions are still ongoing, we have not reached any formal agreement."

Well, call me when the iPhone is finally coming to China. Looks like things are no further along than 3 months ago.
Right now Apple is anyway not even able to satisfy demand for the iPhone 3GS. Opening up the Chinese market with its potentially huge customer base can wait.
