A new report from Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing shows that there has been strong growth in HDTV ownership. According to the report over 53% of US homes now report owning an HDTV. That number is up 18% since 2008.

The boom in HDTV ownership is likely to do with the digital transition being complete this year and people upgrading sets. The report also shows that 69% of the HDTV owners in America now subscribe to HD packages compared to 56% last year.

Homes with TVs 32-inches and larger have grown well in 2009 with 59% of the homes owning larger screen sets, up from 52% in 2008. The report also shows that 71% of homes now own a computer, and 40% own a video game system.
