Mobile service provider 3 is set to launch its own Mifi wireless router by Christmas reports ITPro. The device is about the size of your typical mobile phone and runs on battery power.

Mifi takes 3G connectivity and turns it into a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot for multiple devices as long as the 3G connection is available. Each time I hear about this sort of gadget, I think of it as an annuity to the mobile provider since multiple computers sharing a 3G network will blast through the paltry data caps most plans have much faster.

The setup is said to require no software and only needs an 8-digit network key only needing to be put in once per device. The launch date isn’t official, year and prices are unconfirmed at this point.
