Last week Vonage and Apple said according to Barron's Tech Trader Daily that a Vonage VOIP Client has been submitted for App Store approval.

Apparently the current version submitted on the 26th had minor requested fix. So possibly I am soon able to take my U.S. calls here in Germany on my iPhone via my Vonage account.
This would be absolutely bloody amazing. I am using Vonage since about 5 years. For me the killer feature is that I can have a U.S. phone number anywhere in the world and use it from anywhere.
If I would have a soft VOIP client on the iPhone, I can also do my U.S. Bus-dev calls from the lake.

It would be surprising though if Apple would approve the Vonage VOIP client before Google Voice. There is the whole FCC activity around that topic that could still slow things down.

Vonage also offers a new service plan that adds free international calling to 60 countries for the monthly flat fee of $24.99. Mobile carriers hopefully will soon come to the conclusion that they only can sell data and not voice anymore.
