Set-top box maker Amino Communications has announced that it has a new device set to hit the market soon that is running the new Intel Atom CE4100 platform. The CE4100 platform was unveiled at IDF last month.

The new media processor allows for innovative features with HD video support, home theater audio, and advanced 3D graphics. The processor platform will allow the set-top boxes it powers to deliver a full Internet experience according to Amino.

The new set-top box running the CE4100 is now being demoed and there is no word on exactly when it will hit the market. “With new Internet-based services and applications coming to TV, there is a need for a new generation of set-top boxes,” said Keith Wehmeyer, General Manager, IPTV, Digital Home Group, Intel Corporation. “Amino recognizes the requirements for processor performance and high-quality video and graphics, and is designing a set top box based on Intel’s CE4100 media processor to provide a premium entertainment experience to consumers.”
