Maingear launched its Shift personal supercomputer a while back. The company has announced that with the official introduction today of the ATI HD 5970 video card it is adding the world's most powerful graphics card to the Shift.

Buyers wanting the best machine they can get can order a pair of the new 5970 video cards inside the Shift giving the machine a whopping 10 teraflops of processing power. I can only imagine the cost of this rig with the two cards.

A single 5970 is $600 retail and a pair of the beasts will add $1569 to the cost of the machine over standard GeForce GT 220 graphics. Max the machine out with just about everything you can add and you are looking at $6,500.
