Let me start this article off by saying that any day where I get to write the word “dongle” repeatedly in an article is a good day. On to the story; TeleSonera, a carrier in Sweden and Norway, has announced the launch of the first commercially available 4G network. The next-generation LTE dongle that delivers the connection comes courtesy of Samsung. This dongle will wireless speeds of up to 100 Mbps to TeleSonera customers, the lucky bastards. 4G is roughly ten times the speed of 3G, and it absolutely cannot come to the rest of the world soon enough. Current 3G networks are just barely fast enough to be reasonably useful, but they're still annoyingly slow a huge amount of the time. 4G represents a major evolution. It's one small step for a dongle, but one giant leap for dongle-kind.
