Intel has officially announced its new line of Atom processors that have integrated graphics built into the CPU. The new integration of CPU and GPU allows new netbooks and PCs to be smaller and more energy efficient.

The new processors include the N450 for netbooks along with a new low power Intel NM10 Express chipset. The entry-level desktop market gets the Intel Atom D410 or the dual-core D510 processor also paired with the NM10 Express chipset.

The integration of the GPU and CPU into one product is a first for the x86 processor market. The design allows the integration of only two chips including the CPU and chipset rather than three previously with a CPU, chipset, and I/O controller hub. The N450 CPU has 512K of L2 cache and a 7W TDP. The D410 has the same cache and a 12W TDP with the D510 getting 1MB cache and 15W TDP. All three of the chips run at the same 1.66GHz speed. Pricing and availability will be offered in January.
