hField Technologies has just announced the launch of new software for its Wi-Fire long range Wi-Fire adapter. The adapter has been around for Windows machines for a while and makes it easier for users to connect to wireless networks.

The new software for the Wi-Fire adapter allows the device to work with Mac computers and gives the device the same look and feel they are used to with the Apple AirPort. The Wi-Fire adapter is an integrated directional antenna and a highly sensitive receiver along with software to connect users to WiFi networks when they want, where they want.

The adapter promises to be able to connect a user to a wireless network up to 1,000 feet from the router. The device claims to provide three times the range of other 802.11 adapters. The new version of the software for the adapter makes it compatible with Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5, and 10.6. The adapter sells for $59.
