Facebook has announced at MWC that a new version of its social networking site is coming aimed specifically at mobile users. The new version will be called Facebook Zero. Zero will be a text only version of the social network.

There are carriers that have already signed up to offer Facebook Zero and the site is expected to launch in the next few months. The carriers are likely hoping that a text only version will reduce the bandwidth used by mobile visits to the full version of Facebook.

According to stats, Facebook is one of the most visited sites by mobile users in the UK. Out of the 6.7 billion total page views generated by mobile users in December, 2.6 billion of them were to Facebook.
