Acer is about to launch a new line of ultra-thin notebooks. Digitimes reports that the company is preparing to release several Intel Calpella-based notebooks in sizes ranging from 13” to 15”. The series is code-named 'Calpella Slim', and all models are billed as being less than an inch thick at their thinnest point.

The ultra-thin notebooks that Acer currently has out will be reduced in price in order to differentiate them from the Calpella Slim. Acer's CULVs have seen less-than-impressive sales as of late, which is why they have transitioned to mainstream CPUs with thin bodies. We'll see how well this new strategy plays out in a few weeks.
