Acer has just sent out a press release announcing the launch of a new continuation of the Acer Timeline series. The Acer Timeline X packs in LED backlighting and Intel Display Power Savings, which Acer claims will guarantee a 30% drop in power usage.

The Hard Drive and cooling system and processors have all also been optimized for power savings and full system performance. The Timeline X has a battery life of more than 8 hours, plus the PowerSmart key which extends the life with a single push. This series of laptops can all support HD multimedia, as well as Dolby Home Theater v3 audio.

Acer brags that their PowerSmart technology allows their laptops to consume 66% less power than is required by Energy Star. These notebooks are also very light; between 1.8 and 2.4 kg and less than 1” thick.
