The Nintendo 3DS has been drawing a lot of buzz lately in the gaming industry. Handheld gamers are eager for its release, and everyone else is waiting to see just how well it will live up to the hype. Nintendo obviously hopes this will be the product to prune back the iPhone's intrusion into handheld gaming. Sony, however, feels differently.

In an interview with IGN, Sony's Director of Hardware and Marketing John Koller expressed doubt that the product would be a hit for younger audiences. He stated that 8 and 9-year-old kids using a 3D handheld was “a little bit of a stretch” based on Sony's research. What exactly that 'research' was, Koller neglected to say.
