If you want a free iPad, hurry over the App Store and download Boingo's "Wi-Fi Credits" app - the 1,000th person to do so will win an iPad. It's a way to promote the new app, which allows users to purchase premium Wi-Fi services directly from iTunes.

When you're at a hotel or an airport or somewhere that has Wi-Fi access that you need to pay for, more than likely the service is provided by Boingo Wireless. Boingo has more than 125,000 hotspots worldwide.

The new app streamlines the process if you want to connect to Wi-Fi through your iPod Touch or iPhone. Within the "Boingo Wi-Fi Credits" app, users can purchase one hour credits through their iTunes account. Then, when you reach a Boingo hotspot, simply enter your iTunes account info and the credit will be deducted automatically - no need to enter your credit card info through the wireless network.

The announcement comes as the iPad launch approaches, and it is clear that Boingo expects this app to be most relevant on the iPad. To highlight this, it is offering a free iPad to the 1,000th user who downloads and registers the app.

Even if you're not the winner, however, you'll still get something for free just for downloading the app. For a limited time, new users will get one hour of Boingo service added to their account for free.
