If you are a Freeview user who has wanted to watch in HD, you are in luck. Starting today major cities in the UK can get HD programs via Freeview. The cities include London, Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow, and Cardiff.

Networks available in HD include Channel 4 HD, BBC HD, and ITV HD. A fourth channel will also land on Freeview in HD, the Welsh-language S4C Clirlun and a fifth channel might be added for a second BBC HD offering later.

Advertising campaigns for the new service will launch this weekend and soon you won’t be able to get away from the ads. You will need a TV that supports Freeview HD natively or a set top box to enjoy the programs.
