We all make mistakes, and the best way to deal with those mistakes is by admitting them early and openly. It appears that Microsoft may finally have learned that lesson. They've changed the name of their upcoming mobile OS to something a wee bit less cumbersome. SlashGear reports that the Windows Phone 7 Series will now just be called Windows Phone 7.

The announcement came via a tweet from windowsphone, Microsoft's twitter account for the OS. They stated, “tis the season for Series finales.” and than confirmed that the word 'series' was being dropped from the name. Good move, Redmond. At the very least it will save folks like a little bit of page space.
