The iPad launched in the US over the weekend and by all accounts, the device has driven lots of interest. According to estimates, the device has sold in the range of 600,000 to 700,000 units over the weekend.

That number is twice some early estimates, which has some saying the Apple, may have over stated its pre-order numbers. On the other hand, the company could have simply had more than it said and wanted to be sure some were in stores for customers.

The basic form of the iPad sells for $499 over in the states for 16GB of storage. The device is cool and I see it replacing netbooks not full laptops for many uses.
