As if we didn't have enough things to distract us in the car already, a UK company called "3" has unveiled a new kit that allows any automobile to be turned into a mobile WiFi hotspot.

3 announced the "In Car WiFi" set at a local electronics show in Birmingham in the UK. It works by converting a 3G mobile data connection into a WiFi signal that virtually any WiFi-enabled device can connect to.

Options like this have been around for a while. There are PC dongles that accept and convert a 3G signal and some 3G phones can be used as a tethered modem for other devices.

But this product from 3 is specifically tailored to the car, making the WiFi hotspot permanent for every time you take a road trip.

The Inquirer reports that this is pretty much the same device as a "MiFi" gadget that 3 released earlier this year, but it is being rebranded as a product for the car.

The In Car WiFi kit is available in the UK for around £60 ($120).
