Spring Design is the company behind the cool Alex eReader that has been teased for a while now. the device was at CES back in January and many have been counting the days until it launched. Now that the iPad is on the market, the Alex may not be as popular as it would have been months ago.

Spring has announced that the Alex will ship tomorrow and that international versions will be shipped shortly. The Alex weighs 11 ounces and has 3G connectivity for downloading books on the go.

The device has dual screens with a large screen for reading and a smaller color screen underneath for navigating the web and bookstores. The Alex will sell for $399 making it only $100 cheaper than the iPad. It will be a much tougher sale in the post iPad market considering how much more the iPad will do.
