Sony Drops New Walkman Phones Featuring Social Networking

Sony Ericsson has offered up a pair of new mobile phones that add Walkman music playback features to mobile handsets that are built around social networking. The new devices include the Zylo with Walkman and the Spiro with Walkman.

Both handsets feature a 3.5mm headphone jack, TrackID for naming tracks, FM tuners, stereo Bluetooth, and PlayNow music download. They also support Facebook and Twitter.

The Spiro operates on GSM GPRS/EDGE 900/1800 networks and 850/1900MHz networks as well. The Zylo operates on UMTS HSPA 900/2100 and GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS HSPA 850/900/1800/1900 and GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 networks. Both handsets are set to land in Q3 2010 in select markets at undisclosed prices.
