Toshiba Unveils New High Capacity Automotive HDD

Toshiba has unveiled a new robust HDD that is aimed at use in cars for advanced vehicle storage. The new drive is the 4200-rpm SATA MK2060GSC. The drive has a storage capacity of 200GB with a single platter design.

The drive is the highest capacity automotive HDD around. The robust HDD is designed to operate at altitudes of -300 to 12,000 meters when not working and -30 to +85-degrees when operating. The HDD also has a wide temperature range of -30 to +85-degrees.

The average seek time of the drive is 12ms and the drive measures 69.85 x 100 x 9,5mm and weighs 98g. The HDD can survive vibration of 5G for 49ms when not operating and shock of 800G when not operating.
