Were you planning to watch Avatar (or anything else) in 3D on your PS3's Blu-ray drive? If so, there's some bad news you should be aware of. TechRadar reports that Sony has announced that the upcoming 3D firmware update for the PS3 will not make it compatible with 3D Blu-rays.

The update WILL ready the PS3 for 3D gaming. There are scheduled to be four 3D game launches in June. Wipeout HD, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, PAIN and Super Stardust HD. A 3D Blu-ray update will eventually come to the PS3, but not until after this summer.
