Android 2.2 could be coming to our phones in the near future. Android and Me reports that analytics reports have shown that Android 2.2 is already in the testing phase. They have also received confirmation from inside sources that 2.2 is currently in the testing phase.

Rumored features for the update include a JIT compiler, the freeing up of additional RAM, OpenGL ES 2.0 enhancements, the underpinning support for Flash 10.1, and fixes to various HTC touch sensor issues. Multitouch should get better as well. Also, we may get multicolor trackballs! May 19th is the expected release date for Android 2.2.
