The NHL is getting in to the tablet game. They've just released their first official app for the iPad. NHL Ice Time – Playoffs Edition gives hockey fans a way to stay connected with every major development of the season. This free app will keep you up-to-date on the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs and is available in the App Store now.

This app was co-developed by the NHL and NeuLion. It gives access to video from old games, condensed games, and highlight packages. You'll be able to see live scores and in-game stats for every team and player, plus video highlights after each period played. If you can't watch the game, your iPad will at least be able to provide you with live radio coverage of each game.

Now, all we need is a “best fights of the NHL” video app. Please?
