This weekend saw the launch of a new way to game. InstantAction has just sent out a press release announcing the launch of their online video game service. With InstantAction, you'll be able to purchase “premium” games and play them in browser. You can, say, embed Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition in Facebook or your blog and play it at your leisure.

InstantAction uses in-browser, thin-client, and progressive downloading technologies to embed their games in a browser without sacrificing speed or necessitating hours of download time. This is (potentially) a major shift in game distribution. If InstantAction takes off, we could be on the cusp of some big changes in the current retail model.

See if InstantAction deserves the hype by visiting the website and taking it for a spin.
