Adaptec has announced new additions to its line of MaxIQ storage controllers that promise to improve performance up to eight times for data centers. The line of caching devices promises to reduce capital and operating expenses up to 70% by allowing administrators in a data center to build high performance hybrid arrays with HDDs and SSDs.

The new products include the MaxIQ 2405Q with four internal ports, the 5805Q with eight internal ports, and the 5805ZQ with eight internal ports and a zero maintenance cache with battery free data protection.

All of the controllers use a 1.2GHz processor, 512MB of DDR2 write cache, and have support for both MLC and SLC SSDs. With SAS expanders, each controller can control up to 256 devices and support a number of operating systems. The 2405Q sells for $645, the 5805Q for $1215, and the 5805ZQ sells for $1485.
