We've been anticipating the launch of a new line of dual-core Atom processors for a few weeks now. Today, Fudzilla reports that the Atom N550 is likely to be that processor. The N400 series will remain single core devices, while the 500s will be dual-core.

The N550 is clocked at 1.5 GHz. It has a 1 MB L2 cache, 2x512KB per core in two cores with four hyperthreads. The total power draw for this processor is just 8.5 watts, two watts more than the single-core Atom N475. Now, all we need is for a manufacturer to stick this chip and a huge effin' battery inside a tablet. Mmm, multi-tasking goodness!
