Apple has started to take pre-orders for the Apple iPad in Europe in May 10th. Within 5 days the initial iPad stock is apparently sold out. The Apple Store states now June 7th as shipping date for the Apple iPad.

This has also happened in the United States. If you have pre-ordered the iPad right away you should still get it on May 28th. Additionally Apple will have reserved iPads for in-store sales on May 28th.

It is hard to say how iPad crazy Europeans are. In the United States you can call the iPad already a runaway success.

You can see the new June 7th iPad shipping date for instance on the German Apple Store, UK Apple Store and on the French Apple Store.
