Fujitsu has announced new touch sensitive screens that are aimed at mobile devices. The new screens use film-film construction are designed to be up to 40% lighter than typical film-glass panels. At the same time, the new film-film panels are designed to be stronger.

The film-film panels can withstand greater input loads and have two times the usable life of typical film-film panels. The new Fujitsu panels are the FID-53X series and have a bottom layer of shatterproof polycarbonate plastic that is both light and durable.

The top layer is a 4H hard-tap cover film that increases the panels input load by up to 50%. That makes the screen strong enough for heavy writing pressure and repeated stylus tapping. Fujitsu is targeting the industrial handheld market and computer market with the new screens. Sizes range from 2-inches to 7-inches and sell for under $10 each in 10,000 unit lots.
