When HP first gobbled up Palm I admit that I wondered why it would want WebOS, which is really all Palm had to offer. I could certainly see the OS turning up in HP smartphones and tablet machines, but outside that, it's hard to say what other uses HP would find.

One place I never really thought about WebOS landing is a printer. HP has announced that WebOS will be headed to web connected printers. This is one category of printer that I just don’t see a big market for. Why in the world would I want to look up information on my printer from the web when I can do it on the PC the printer is attached to?

HP already has some web-connected printers that have apps that can be added for printing movie tickets and photos from places like Fandango and Snapfish. Still, I can already do that with my computer and have a much easier time reading and finding the data. I don’t see a huge success here for HP.
