The list price for Shrek 3 on DVD is $20, which is the same price that some moviegoers will pay to see, only once, that movie's sequel.
Cinemablend.com reports that AMC Loews theaters in New York City will be charging $20 per ticket, officially setting that as the new IMAX price.

Is it price gouging? Of course, Manhattan already has just about the most expensive ticket prices in the country. To see a single movie at standard price costs $12.50. However, $20 for one movie ticket? Some penny pinchers would probably faint at the idea.

Shrek Forever After is pretty much a shoo-in to become this weekend's top box office performer. That's because of the mere fact that it's available in IMAX, where a movie ticket costs substantially more than any other movie.

We've already seen movies like Clash of the Titans and Alice in Wonderland cheaply add on 3D effects in post-production just to milk more money out of consumers. Hopefully this trend does not continue.
