I think we can all agree that a steering-wheel mount for an iPad is just about the worst idea in human history. There is no possible way such a product would not end in deaths. The sheer idiocy of putting a big hunk of medal and glass between you and the airbag is staggering. And yet, a company has launched such a product.

The iPad Steering Wheel Mount has been featured by both USA Today and Fudzilla. The general consensus seems to be that this is terrible idea. Thankfully, it is also an obvious fake.

The website is pretty much devoid of logos or anything that would make it look like more than a joke site created to go along with the gimmicky “product demonstration” video. You can't even purchase the iPad Steering Wheel Mount yet. Clicking on the 'buy' page gives some cock-and-bull story about “overwhelming” demand leaving the mount out of stock. They promise to have a dealer locator soon, but they never will.

The ridiculous user testimonials and the utter lack of any images of the product itself just add to the case that this is a fake. But I also have hard proof. The website contains a link to the iPad car mount's Patent, but the link takes you to the patent for Duct Tape.

Which I'm guessing is what they used to secure the iPad to the steering wheel in that video. Don't get too outraged, folks. It's just a hoax.
