Last weekend the Apple iPad started shipping after a couple delays to countries around the world. The iPad was limited to the US only at first and the shipments to the UK and other parts of the world were delayed after Apple reported stronger than expected demand for the device.

Apple has now announced that in the 60 days the iPad has been on the market it has sold 2 million units. Apple also reports that developers have created over 5000 new apps for the iPad.

"Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone."
