Gamers are stereotypically flabby, unfit and riddled with easily preventable physical disorders. Now, real scientists have backed up that old prejudice with hard data. Gearlog reports that England's University of Essex studied several professional gamers and discovered that, while they are mentally sharp, they also possess almost uniformly terrible health.

The study compared several of these pro gamers to 60-year-old chainsmokers. Although they looked fairly normal on the outside, years of 10 hour gaming sessions had robbed their bodies of anything even vaguely resembling fitness.

In short; get off of your butts and exercise in between bouts of Starcraft II and Call of Duty. You'll get in more total game time if you can survive past 30.
