Elgato has announced that version 1.1 of its EyeTv app for the iPhone has been approved by Apple. The new version of the app adds live TV streaming over WiFi or 3G networks to the iPad.

Elgato also optimized the new app to take advantage of the higher resolutions offered by the iPad. The app will still work on the iPhone too and is a free upgrade for ElGato owners.

The app still requires a Mac running EyeTV 3.4 and a TV tuner. To stream live TV the CPU has to be at least a Core 2 Duo and the recommended format for 3G streaming is Turbo.264 HD. Those who don’t own the app can get it for $4.99.
