SanDisk has announced that it is now shipping its new WORM (write once, read many) SD cards in volume. The cards promise to store images for up to 100 years and are tamper proof to allow archiving of evidence for forensics.

The SD cards have 1GB of storage capacity. The card is ideal for law enforcement because it allows the creation of unalterable, permanent photographic records to serve as resources for investigations and trials.

The SD card is used just as any other SD card would be by being placed into a digital camera. SanDisk proved that photos on the card last for 100 years using advanced aging techniques. The cards can be purchased globally and pricing varies with the quantity ordered.
