If you think that complimentary mints on your pillow and a free cup of orange juice in the morning are nice amenities, then you should check out this California hotel that equips guests with their very own iPad.
It's quite a generous move from Shutters On The Beach, an upscale hotel in the beachfront city of Santa Monica, but there are a couple catches.

First, the free iPad offer only extends for the duration of the guest's stay. So it needs to be returned upon checkout. Secondly, it is only for people who book a "Premier" suite, the most expensive room class at the hotel.

It's still a pretty unique amenity, especially considering the proprietary apps that are built into the hotel's iPads. Guests can order room service, schedule a massage, etc, from a special Concierge app.

Regular guests with their own iPad, in non-suite rooms, cannot access the app. It's something exclusive to the hotel-linked iPads.

"At Shutters we are constantly striving to provide our guests with that special touch or additional level of service. We are thrilled to be the first hotel on the West Coast to offer this hot technology for our guests’ enjoyment. It’s a great opportunity to test drive new technology while on vacation. If successful, we hope to expand this program to other room categories," said the hotel's general manager Gregory Day in a statement.
