One of the things that I hated most about college was the ton of heavy books I have to carry around campus. When colleges started talking about using eReaders like the Kindle, I thought that was really cool.

Oklahoma State University has announced that it intends to pilot a program in the fall 2010 year that will use the iPad in the classroom for students in the School of Media and Strategic Communications and the Spears School of Business at the Stillwater and Tulsa campuses. The pilot will use 125 students in five different courses.

The students will get a discount on the iPad of over $100 and the iPad will be evaluated for its impact on the coursework and the curriculum. The school says it will be evaluating the use of the iPad for education on different measurable outcomes.
